"In 1644 London's Globe Playhouse, home of Shakespeare's acting company, was torn down. Now, over 300 years later, the idea of rebuilding an exact replica of the Globe has borne fruit, to the delight of scholars, theatre historians and the Shakespeare-loving public. With the commitment of Wayne State University and the City of Detroit, the Globe will rise again on the banks of the Detroit River. The projected opening for this new symbol of Renaissance in Detroit is Spring, 1984."--Accompanying card. |
