Summary |
Bernstein's papers consist primarily of memoranda, campaign literature, sample ballots, voting instructions, and clippings related to the United Steel Workers International elections from 1953 through 1969. The material for the 1965 campaign focuses on the presidental election in which I. W. Abel defeated the incumbent David McDonald. The documents for the 1969 election relate primarily to the election contest in District 8, in which Meyer Bernstein, an International Director of the UAW, actively supported the candidacy of Leander Simms for the office of Director of District 8. A few papers deal with a variety of topics including the Staffman's Organizing Committee, the U.S.W. agreement with the Alan Wood Steel Company, and several resolutions introduced at the USW's biennial convention. |
